A 4×6 location presents many challenges to the hi-fi enthusiast and manufacturer. Restricted mounting depth and not at all generous cone size make this a real test of engineering. By grafting our high fidelity silk dome tweeter onto a slimline chassis and fitting the whole thing out with a proper Tech-One composite cone and our aerospace grade rubber surround our factory has delivered the goods.
A super high density ceramic magnet drives the multi-layer Aluminium voice coil and produces terrific control over the music. It goes without saying that at this size there is no room for installation error to protect the limited bass response the cone area can create, but when properly fitted the SPL46.1 has the sound to be right up there with the best 4×6 speakers ever designed.
